What's my process?

The art licensing process

Finding the perfect artwork for your project is easy! Browse my extensive portfolio to find exactly what you’re looking for. Once you've discovered a piece that captures your vision, simply let me know, and we can discuss how it can bring your product to life.

Crystal-clear agreements for peace of mind. Each art licensing contract covers essential details like usage rights, duration, territory, product category, and payment terms. Whether you prefer a flat fee, royalty, or buyout option, we'll work together to find a solution that benefits us both.

Receive your artwork, ready to shine! You'll receive high-resolution files perfectly tailored to your product needs. Most of my work is raster-based, so you can choose from Photoshop files, flattened PNGs, TIFFs, or JPGs. Minor colour and layout adjustments are possible to ensure a seamless fit.

The design process

Let's dive deep into your project. Before we start sketching, a detailed brief is key. It helps me understand your vision, set a realistic timeline, and offer a fair flat-fee quote. Tell me about your desired number of illustrations, the final artwork size, and preferred file formats (think Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). With this clarity, we can ensure I'm the perfect design partner for your project.

Collaborative creativity with your vision at heart. This stage is where ideas come alive! Expect two rounds of revisions: one for initial sketches and brainstorming, and another at the design stage. Once you're happy, we move to finalization. Need more revisions? No problem, but they'll be at an additional cost and may impact the deadline. Remember, prompt feedback keeps us on track for completion!

High-resolution artwork delivered your way. Your final design arrives in high resolution and meticulously optimized for your specific needs. Whether you prefer the versatility of vector formats or the vibrant details of raster, I've got you covered. Choose your preferred delivery method (Google Drive, Dropbox, email, WeTransfer) and I'll ensure a smooth handoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Yes, I can provide a standard contract outlining the terms of our agreement. However, if you have a preferred contract you'd like to use, I'm happy to work with that as well.

Art licensing: I factor in things like how long you want to use the artwork, what products it'll be on, and how many you'll make. We'll chat about all this during the contract phase.

Custom illustrations: Are priced based on the project's complexity, timeline, and how long it'll take me to complete. I offer flat fee pricing, but we can also discuss retainer options if you have ongoing needs.

Payment is easy! I accept PayPal, cheques, and Wise transfers.

Art licensing: Full payment within 30 days of receiving the invoice is required for flat fee agreements.

Custom illustration: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before I start working. The rest is due upon completion.

Art licensing: Once you have the files, there's no turning back (payments are non-refundable since you have access to the artwork).

Custom illustration: We can discuss and include a "kill fee" outlining what you owe if you cancel. Otherwise, the initial deposit covers the contract termination.

Art Licensing Questions

It's like renting my artwork for a set time to use on your products. You'd either pay me a percentage or a fixed amount of each sale (royalty) or a flat fee upfront.

I offer flat fees, royalties, category buyouts (exclusive rights for a specific product type), and buyouts (full ownership).

I'm happy to make minor adjustments to colours, size, and layout. Extensive modifications will incur additional fees.

Freelance Illustration Questions

I love creating art for greeting cards, stationery, gifts, puzzles, home décor, and bolt fabric. But I'm always open to new challenges, especially if you think my style would be a good fit!

The design process in a nutshell:

  1. Tell me about your project! The more details you share, the better I can estimate timelines and costs.
  2. Revisions: You get two rounds to perfect things!
    • Sketches & Ideas: I'll share some initial sketches and moodboards to get your feedback.
    • Design Roughs: Based on your feedback, I'll present more fleshed-out designs with colour options and layouts.
  3. Final Touches: I'll polish and finalize the chosen designs.

You bet! I include 2 rounds of revisions. Extra revisions come with an additional cost and might push back the deadline.
